Maintenance and Repair
All TEI Group maintenance mechanics hold New York City Department of Buildings Elevator Inspector licenses, a testimony to the dedication and commitment of TEI's workforce. No other elevator company in New York City has made DOB licensure a fixed requirement for their field service mechanics. When problems arise with an elevator's heavy equipment - machines, motors, wire rope, sheaves, counterweights - you can rest assured that the necessary repairs are being made to the highest standards by qualified personnel and in the safest means possible.
Testing
Mandatory building codes require elevators and escalators to be inspected by licensed elevator inspectors on a regular basis. In New York City, the DOB mandates Category 1 and Category 5 testing of all automated conveyance systems twice a year. Failing to meet compliance can result in hefty fines, shut down your systems, and more important, reveal potentially dangerous operating conditions. With over 90% of TEI service technicians already holding inspector licenses or in queue to have their license issued, no other elevator company in NYC is in such a unique position to track and coordinate scheduled testing, and manage any remedial service issues that may be required to satisfy DOB compliance requirements.
Violations
If you are cited for a compliance issue by the DOB, TEI will work to resolve any Category 1 deficiencies cited and file the requisite Affirmation of Corrections with the DOB. Our violations team has the knowledge and expertise to remedy all types of New York City-issued elevator violations while keeping our clients up to date throughout the entire process. And once all work is completed, inspected and approved by the DOB, TEI will confirm that the violation has been permanently resolved and removed from the city's public records. When possible, TEI Group will even negotiate to help reduce or eliminate customer fines and/or penalties.
